Detroit Institute of Arts Family Comic Book Day

  • Detroit Institute of Arts 5200 Woodward Avenue Detroit, MI, 48202 United States (map)

Vault of Midnight is visiting Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) the first weekend in August, and you're invited! Join us for Family Comic Book Day where you'll learn to make your very own comics under the tutelage of local artists, traverse the stars at Vault of Midnight Game Night: Sci-fi Edition, and see the Star Wars Universe brought to life through incredible costume design!

Draw Your Own Comics!

Local comic artists will display their works as well as lead guests in developing their own characters and panels. Whether you're a budding artist with an in-progress story or you've yet to lift your pencil, you're welcome to join us for comic-making workshops suitable for every age.

Comfort Love and Adam Withers, the husband-and-wife team responsible for the critically acclaimed The UniquesRainbow in the Dark, and The Complete Guide to Self-Publishing Comics both write, draw, color, letter, produce, and publish their series. Making appearances at 15-20 comic & anime conventions every year, they also make time for in-store signings, public speaking, and teaching one class each at Kendall College of Art & Design where they met back in 2000.
